Newsguide | March. 18, 2018

Akwa United striker, Victor Mbaoma, has said his side are quite hopeful to get the desired result against the Libyan giants, Al-lttihad Club, Tripoli.

Akwa United are hosts of the North African side in Sunday’s Caf Confederation Cup first round second leg clash at the, Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

The Nigeria’s Aiteo Cup winners were beaten 0-1 by the Libyan multiple champions at their adopted ground, Stade Taieb Mhiri in Sfax, Tunisia.

Mbaoma said his side will surely get the required minimum two unreplied goals against the visitors to progress to the next stage of Africa’s second tier club competition.

“We stand a better chance to progress to the next stage of the competition with the one goal deficit conceded in the first leg clash in Sfax, Tunisia. We strongly believe we will achieve the mark against the Libyan side, Al-lttihad comes tomorrow (Sunday).

“Al-lttihad are fast and good side no denying that fact but we have a rare opportunity to prove to all doubters that we can always hit back successfully. We remain hopeful for an improved and wonderful performance now that we know the opponents quite better than previously.

“We will approach the match differently than we did in the first leg clash in Sfax and I’m sure we will score goals to put to an end their dreams in this year’s Caf Confederation Cup.

The Nigerian repreentatives need to score at least two unreplied goals against the visitors to guarantee passage to the next stage of the competition.
