New Cast21 Sleeves Are Waterproof and Itch Free
What's the worst part about a broken arm? The insatiably itchy cast. You go on a run with your dog one evening when he spots a squirrel, twists you over his leash, and sends you flying into weeks of scratching your fiberglass-encased arm with a no. 2 pencil.
Three University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign students plan to break this mold, literally, with the Cast21 sleeve. The new rigid, waterproof and lightweight sleeve is made from silicone. The mathematical design allows for each sleeve to be hollow, exposing a greater amount of skin. The sleeves come in a variety of colors and will be sold for approximately the same price as current casts. The Cast21 team is hoping to achieve an ambitious mid-2017 launch goal.
