Peter Dinklage plotting screenwriting career

Actor, Peter Dinklage, wants to try a hand at screenwriting and improve his skills, once he finishes filming the final series of Game of Thrones.

Dinklage stars as the ballsy Tyrion Lannister, who is a good-hearted dwarf with an unfortunate bad fated family. He became a favourite amongst fans in 2011 and still remains one of the best characters in GoT.

When the work on the show's final season ends, he says he wants to move on and use his spare time to improve as a writer, rather than rush into new acting roles.

He said:

''I'm actually reading scripts right now, because I'm not good enough as a screenwriter. I thought I was, but when it comes to writing I haven't been able to write something worthwhile. Maybe I will collaborate with someone, when the series is over I will have more time to focus on it and it will be easier. It's all about finding the right story. I would love to do it.''

When asked what makes a good script, Peter insisted that it must grip him in the first few pages of the script.

''Life is very short, if a script fails to capture your interest before page 10, you must move on to something else. That's one of my criteria, but the key is originality. I like to do things I haven't done before.''

Tyrion has said that after the show ends, he wants to avoid characters that remind him of Tyrion and focus on something completely different to what he has been used to these last few years.

"I do not want to play another Tyrion Lannister, even though he is the best character I've ever played. I am not interested, I have to move on to something else, I have to enjoy being an actor.''

Season 7 continues on the 16th of July 2017.
