Story: The begging life of Nigerian man in Italy(video)

EagleHeadline | Jun. 21, 2017

A Nigerian immigrant in Italy has expressed regret about his decision to move to the country because he has not succeeded and there is no job in the country. So he only resorted to begging.

The unidentified man explained that he begs for a living. He said there are many Nigerians in the country who also beg like he does. He added that if he had the opportunity he would come back home to Nigeria.

According to him, he was arrested by Italian police because he was caught begging on the streets.

When he was asked how much it took for him to travel to Italy, the man explained that he used over N400,000. He added that he had to cross the Mediterranean Sea to come to Italy. He advised Nigerians who are planning to come to Italy not to make the trip.

It was reported that 128 Nigerians crossing the Mediterranean Sea into Europe were killed between March 6 and 26.

I'm Igbo but I think the idea of Biafra makes no sense. Igbo's do not live as one, even till today. We are not united. Just like the rest of Nigeria. How are we going to manage a new country if we cannot set aside our differences and just act as one, like brothers and sisters?

I think our communities are cursed lot because every year we loose more 2000 young Africans either traveling to Europe through North (Libya,Morocco)who are making lucrative business out of this dangerous journey or from Eastern Africa( Ethiopia & Somalia) through Red sea to middle East.Unfortunately, on all their way, they are harassed, beaten and sometimes rapped or robbed. The question is why will your son or daughters take such a risky life especially when some of them are graduates. It is because of our bad and selfish leadership who don't uphold the interest of their nation at heart but instead loot and deposit the country's resources in Foreign banks abroad so as to benefit himself and the banks abroad.Let's not blame the young generations because we did not plan for them, and instead have to go die enroute to Europe or middle east. What actions have African leaders done so far to address this issue? Nothing tangible of I know.. Its unfortunate!
